What Defines Green Toys?

toyWe must all be concerned about the environment. This concern, of course, extends to our children who will inherit the world we leave them. Green toys have become a large and growing part of the toy industry. Many of the award programs now include giving awards to companies that make so called green toys.

What makes a green, or eco-friendly toy? There are so many definitions and it’s hard to know exactly what they mean. A green company or toy may embrace some or all of these principals. It is wise to do your research and understand exactly what you are purchasing and what makes it safe for your child and for the environment.  It’s good to know, when you purchase a toy that is advertised to be green or eco-friendly, exactly what philosophies they are embracing.

baby toysUsually teething in your baby starts from month 6 and is the result of some inflammation, resulting in swelling of the gums.  While for some babies it does not appear to be a problem at all, other tots might find it quite painful.   Something cold will help to soothe the inflammed gums, such as one of the  organic cotton baby toys, soaked in water and then frozen.

There is usually a sequence in how babies get their teeth.  The lower incisors come in first, followed by the top incisors then the molars and canines follow.

organic cotton baby toysNewborns may not seem like they are aware of much at first but they are learning to use their senses. New babies soak up information like a sponge and they do so by looking, smelling, touching, and hearing.   They will put anything in their mouths so be sure to have only organic cotton chewing toys on hand.   How exciting to see your baby learn new things on a daily basis.  Some wonderful developmental toys for infants can help your child grow its senses and assist in learning about their environment.

An interesting toy for your baby’s first three months is an unbreakable mirror. The mirror helps your newborn become aware of its surroundings. This gives your little one some entertainment while enjoying important tummy time. Babies love to look at faces and the mirror.  This allows them to see their face up close.  It also helps their eyes to focus. You might find your baby actually talking and laughing to itself in the mirror.

organic cotton toysOutdoor toys  offer so much opportunity for pretend play and creativity. Playing roles and pretend play are most essential ingredients for healthy development. The play house is where  your child can pretend to be a mom, a dad, a teacher, or a plumber if they choose to. By taking on these roles, your child will explore and expand creative notions  in a healthy way.  Dressing them in organic toddler clothing will make them feel more comfortable so itchy clothing won’t disrupt play!

It’s most important for children to learn as soon as possible how to develop their creativity and imagination. All children love to pretend that they are grown up and often try to help out with grown-up jobs. By providing them with tools and garden impliments  sized to fit them, you can encourage their natural instincts.
