baby bassinetBuying a Moses basket, or bassinet, for you new baby will allow you to keep them safe and secure at the same time as keeping them nearby.  This is a great benefit for making sure they are not disturbed by other children or animals in the house.  You will also hear immediately if they get into any distress.

It’s never a good idea to leave baby alone in a room when the baby bassinet is in a rocking position.  It could easily tip.  Only move the basket when it is empty.  Pick baby up first and then move it.  Also a good practice is to use the mattress pad provided by the manufacturer to prevent suffocation.  Use only the organic bassinet sheets made for you particular bassinet model.

For most expectant Mothers, when considering the purchase of a new baby bassinet or a moses masket, the first and foremost consideration is to make sure the bassinet or moses basket adheres to the strictest safety standards. That is the materials must be durable and the construction comfortable.  Now it is possible to line it and fill it with wonderfully soft, safe organic cotton bedding.

For thousands of years, mothers have used baskets, not only as a bed for baby to sleep in but also to transport them to Grandma’s house. Many of us are familiar with the story of how the mother of baby Moses used a basket to save the child from harm at the hands of the Egyptian Pharoah. Mothers are always doing their very best to keep their offspring safe.

Choosing Bassinet Bedding

When choosing baby bedding, choose something which can guarantee optimum safety and coziness to your baby. The best fabric for the baby would be 100 percent organic cotton bassinet bedding. You want to be sure baby doesn’t develop a rash from chemicals in synthetic materials.

Bassinets are ideally suitable for the baby for the first 3 or 4 months. A perfect bassinet will have a soft cuddly mattress, a puddle pad to protect this mattress, a sheet and a blanket. It is not necessary, or wise, to give a baby a pillow until they are two years old.  The bassinet should be made of soft material with preferably the color blending with the baby’s room.

What are Bassinets?

baby bassinetsMuch of the time, bassinets are made of natural fibers like wicker or natural palm leaves and tend to be more portable than cradles.   Bassinets are great for parents who travel a lot, live in a house with more than one floor, or are very active.

In addition, they are usually smaller and lighter than a cradle, but the sizes do
vary. Bassinet bedding can either be purchased or custom made to fit the requirements and tastes of the parents; new parents need to be aware that though there are similarities between Bassinets and cradles, they take different mattresses, sheets, and bedding.

The basket is so easy to carry with you to Grandma’s house and baby doesn’t have to be disturbed.  It’s perfect for newborns to about 3 months.  Babies feel more secure bundled up in a small space.

This was the only one I could find that was not lacquered in unknown toxic substances.  Bassinet measures  11 x 29 to 12 x 30″.
