It is a fact that babies sleep for about 70% of their first year.  If you are an aware parent, you will have checked out everything in your baby’s nursery room for comfort and safety.  Since they spend so much time in the crib, it is important that they not be exposed to toxins from the sheets or the mattress you’ve chosen.

Cotton makes up the majority of the bedding. Foam or coil mattresses serve the same purpose except that the coil ones are usually a little more expensive.  Make sure you choose an organic baby mattress constructed of organic cotton and wool as anything else will give off toxins that will be harmful to your child.  The foam mattress is easier to lift when changing the sheets but the coil one will probably be firmer.

Beginning the planning for the arrival of your baby is a very special and exciting time.  However, before leaping into buying crib bedding, there are some important facts to consider.  Seek out the safest, most durable and easiest to care for fabrics to make your life easier and baby’s the most comfortable it can be.

This would suggest looking at organic cotton fabric.  It will be softer and will have no chemical residue left behind by dying and bleaching.  Organic crib sheets are dyed with vegetable dyes and are free of chemical whiteners.  The fabric will be gentle on baby’s skin and will not cause the rashes and irritations that man-made materials will do.

Toddler bedding now comes in the most wonderful colors and designs.  Looking for something special for your little girl should be easy.  How about a tea party, all in pink or a flower and dragonfly collection?  Since the best bedding sets come in 100% organic cotton, you don’t have to even worry about how her skin will react to the fabric.

There are so many toddler bedding sets to choose from it won’t be easy.  However, the most important thing will be the quality of the fabric the sheets, etc. are made from.  Also, make sure that there are no additions like glitters, embossed patterns and things like that because these will be harmful to your toddler’s skin. Toddler girl bedding should be simple but stylish and safe at the same time.
